Yonago Airport and Tottori Airport at a glance

The prefecture has two airports, and picking the right one saves a lot of time on the ground. Yonago Airport (YGJ), officially Yonago Kitaro Airport, serves the west: Yonago, Kaike, Mount Daisen and Sakaiminato. Tottori Airport (TTJ), officially Tottori Sand Dunes Conan Airport, serves the east and Tottori city. Both have flights to and from Tokyo Haneda, and Yonago also lists a Seoul service.

If you have not decided where to base yourself, start with how to get to Tottori, which compares trains, buses and flights. For the west, the Yonago page shows what is close to the airport.

Tottori Airport (TTJ): Tottori Sand Dunes Conan Airport

The eastern airport is the quickest way into Tottori city.

Tottori Airport is the airport for the city of Tottori, the castle ruins and the east of the prefecture. The airport bus takes about 20 minutes to Tottori Station and about 45 minutes to Kurayoshi Station. A direct bus from the airport to Misasa was discontinued on 31 March 2019, so if you are heading for the onsen town, travel to Kurayoshi first and change there. The Misasa Onsen page and the Kurayoshi page explain the onward connection.

The airport lists its flights as a day list rather than a yearly timetable. On 31 October 2026, the list showed five ANA flights in each direction between Tottori and Tokyo Haneda. Use that as a sense of scale, not as a promise for your date, and look at the current day's list before you book.

Our pick: a private guided day from Sakaiminato

Six hours with a local guide from Sakaiminato Station on a route you shape yourself. It is not an airport transfer, but a way to spend a day once you have arrived.

Flights from Tokyo Haneda

Haneda to Tottori is scheduled at 80 minutes in each direction. For Yonago, the winter plan from 25 October 2026 to 27 March 2027 lists six flights per direction. The published connections from Haneda to Yonago take 85 to 90 minutes, and the return flights 75 to 80 minutes. For a trip after March 2027, look up the new plan before you book.

Fares change with the date and the carrier, so look them up when you book. A morning arrival leaves time to reach Daisen or Sakaiminato the same day, which is worth thinking about when you pick between the two airports.

Seoul flights from Yonago

Yonago Airport publishes an Air Seoul service to Incheon. The winter plan lists flights on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays from 25 October to 25 December 2026, and daily flights from 26 December 2026 for the rest of the winter plan. The prefecture's access page, however, still describes the Seoul service as suspended. Check the airline and the airport on the day you want to travel before you plan around this route.

Buses from Yonago Airport

Bus to Kaike500 JPYSee the operatorConnects to the Seoul flight only
Minatooru to Sakaiminato100 JPY30 minutes or more per the airport, about 20 minutes per the museumShared bus, reservation required

The airport quotes 30 minutes or more for the Minatooru bus, while the museum speaks of about 20 minutes, so allow the longer figure. If a flight is cancelled, the connected bus may be cancelled as well. From Yonago, the bus to Daisen-ji takes about 50 minutes, which the Mount Daisen page covers in more detail, and the Sakaiminato page explains the road and the port.

Rental car counters

Rental cars are available at both airports. At Yonago the counters are on the ground floor of the terminal, and each company tells you whether to return the car to the airport or to a nearby office. Choosing a company, the licence rules and the road closure north of Kurayoshi are all covered in the car hire section of how to get to Tottori, so read it before you collect the keys.

A car helps if you plan to combine Daisen, Kaike and the old towns, but it adds nothing for a short stay in Tottori city, where buses reach the main sights.
